Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU) officially established in 2010 as a public university in the Anatolian side of Istanbul. IMU offers the chance to study in the heart of a beautiful, historical city that has been home to different civilizations and is teeming with diverse cultures. As in all public universities in Turkey, education is almost tuition-free at IMU As a research-oriented, innovative, and entrepreneurial institution, IMU consists of 11 faculties, 2 schools, and 4 graduate schools.
As its first and foremost objective, IMU aims to train future professionals and distinguished experts that excel in their respective fields of study and are able to meet the needs of the modern world. With numerous research centers and facilities IMU provides a wide range of opportunities for research and state-of-the-art labs. In addition to Erasmus+ program, IMU also offers student and faculty exchange through Mevlana and Farabi Exchange Programs. As an international university, IMU has signed international collaboration agreements with numerous universities around the globe.

Dr. Kurtuluş Açıksarı (Beneficiary) is the Head of the Emergency Medicine Department and responsible for the emergency medicine residents training program in Istanbul Medeniyet University Göztepe Training and Research Hospital. From 2013-2015, he worked in the Health Directorate of Istanbul, Department of Disaster and Emergency Services. He was responsible for medical response planning in the Disaster Response Plan of Istanbul and National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) training program. He is interested in outdoor sports, mountain climbing, tracking and photography.
Dr. Mehmet Kocak (Secretary) is emergency medicine physician in Istanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital. He is one of the member and trainer of National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE) that is an organization helps the nation and world-wide disasters. He is interested in tracking, swimming and traveling.
